Once struck by lightning, the injury is often irreparable. How to avoid lightning strikes as much as possible is to learn these things.
1. Protect household appliances from lightning.
Lightning protection devices will only protect buildings, but will not affect lightning strikes that are intruded by telephone lines. Therefore, even if your building is equipped with lightning rods, you cannot use electrical equipment without lightning protection devices during thunderstorms. If conditions permit, lightning arresters should be installed at cable antennas, telephones, fax machines, computer MODEM entrances, and satellite TV cable connections, and a good grounding network should be installed. During storms, indoor lighting should avoid standing under the lamp holder line; when thunder and lightning occur, do not turn on the radio. TVs and outdoor antennas should have ground wires or unplug external antennas, and electronic equipment such as home computers should also be avoided as much as possible.
2. Take personal protection.
No one is allowed to stay on the roof of the building (roof) in the residence or adjacent buildings. The doors and windows of the house should be closed. If conditions permit, metal mesh covers (mesh not larger than 4 square centimeters) can be installed on the doors and windows to prevent ball lightning from entering the room. For buildings with reinforced concrete frame structures, closing doors and windows can prevent the intrusion of side strikes and ball lightning; it is not advisable to be close to exposed metal objects of the building during lightning strikes, such as water pipes, heating pipes, gas pipes, etc., and it is not advisable to use showers; stay away from special lightning rods and down wires; avoid using telephones and wireless phones.
Low buildings such as sheds and guard booths on low ground outside the building, high ground, no high ground, and no lightning protection facilities cannot be hidden under big trees; do not take shelter from rain under isolated poles, eaves, trees, or chimneys; do not hold umbrellas and other metal objects in the wilderness;

Things to note when struck by lightning:
Do not go out during thunderstorms and hide in your room;
If you really want to travel, you should choose an area with many buildings, and never go to areas such as riverside or wilderness to ensure that you do not become the commanding heights nearby;
Try not to use household appliances indoors during thunderstorms, and do not approach conductive objects outdoors;
No cell phones or umbrellas with metal poles allowed;
Do not stay in swimming pools, lakes, seaside or under isolated trees;
Not suitable for iron fences, metal clotheslines, overhead metal bodies and near tracks;
Since the water pipes with lightning protection and grounding are connected together, lightning current will be conducted through the water flow, so the shower equipment cannot be used;
Close doors and windows to prevent side strikes and ball mines from intruding. This method can effectively reduce the occurrence of lightning accidents.
3. Check the lightning protection device regularly.
Even if the structure has complete lightning protection facilities, it still needs to entrust a professional testing agency to conduct regular lightning protection testing. If the inspection results are found to be unqualified, rectification should be made promptly according to national standards.
