Installation density of high-voltage arresters.

High voltage arrester
1. Installing a high-voltage lightning cover can limit the power of lightning on distribution lines.
There are two aspects to using high-voltage lightning arresters to protect distribution lines from lightning overvoltage. One is to protect direct lightning by absorbing electrical discharge energy to achieve the purpose of protection. Second, after installing high-voltage arresters, the induced overvoltage of distribution lines can be limited.
High-voltage arresters can greatly reduce the flashover rate caused by the induced voltage of nearby lightning strikes, increase the layout density of high-voltage arresters, and effectively reduce the lightning flashover rate of lines. Even if the interval between high-voltage arresters is 8 steps, the number of flashovers caused by induced voltage is reduced by at least 25%. Calculate that the height of the distribution line to the ground is 10m, the number of lightning flashovers is once per square kilometer, and the step distance is 75m. If high-voltage arresters are used to protect low-insulation level towers, it will be more effective to reduce the number of inductions. When the distance between high-voltage arresters reaches two steps, it is the turning point when lightning-induced overvoltage begins to rise. Therefore, from the perspective of reliable lightning-induced overvoltage, the best distance between high-voltage arresters is one step.

2. Installation density of high-voltage arresters.
In recent years, studies have shown that although the number of high-voltage arresters installed on distribution lines has increased every year, lightning accidents on distribution lines have not decreased. On the contrary, there is an increasing trend. Analysis shows that this is mainly caused by the failure to install high-voltage arresters on the entire tower. Under normal circumstances, each base tower is equipped with a set of high-voltage arresters. Lightning accidents mainly occur on towers that are not equipped with high-voltage arresters.
In order to completely eliminate lightning accidents on distribution lines, high-voltage arresters must be installed on each arrester on each base tower. Lightning accidents in distribution lines include direct lightning accidents and lightning-induced overvoltage accidents, so high-voltage arresters should be installed at each stage of each column to obtain good protection effects.
The results show that the installation density of high-voltage arresters increases. Induced overvoltage is reduced, but a set of high-voltage lightning generators is installed from the perspective of protecting the entire line relatively intact.
