The former domestic pre-test regulations have three provisions for the use of zinc oxide arrester testers for the test of zinc oxide arresters:
1. Insulation resistance test;

2. Measurement of voltage at DC 1mA and leakage current at 75% of this voltage;
3. Measurement of AC leakage current and resistive component (active component and reactive component) at operating voltage, using a zinc oxide arrester tester.
In addition to the three tests specified in the regulations, when necessary, a reference voltage measurement test under power frequency reference current and other tests are also required to comprehensively judge the status of the arrester.
For the zinc oxide arrester test, the following preparations should be made before using the zinc oxide arrester tester:
1. Fill in a work ticket, prepare a job control card, a quality control card, and handle work permit procedures.
2. Explain the work content, personnel division of labor, live parts, notification of dangerous points to the work team members, and complete the confirmation procedures before starting work.
3. Prepare zinc oxide arrester testers, instruments and tools for testing. The instruments, instruments and tools used should be within the qualification period.
4. Close the fence, hang the safety sign on the fence facing outward, turn on the high-voltage warning light, and place a thermometer and hygrometer.
5. Check the shell of the test product and it should be reliably grounded.
6. Hang up the ground wire and discharge the test object.
7. Remove the high-voltage leads and counter leads of the test product, and other maintenance personnel should evacuate the site.
8. Check the appearance of the test product and clean the surface dirt.
9. When connecting to the power supply, first measure whether the power supply voltage meets the requirements. The power cord must be fixed to prevent sudden disconnection and check whether the leakage protection device is sensitive.
